Palio Khao Yai Village Mall, a freshly launched shopping development in Khao Yai, shares the same architectural and design themes as Primo Posto (read more), an Italian-themed restaurant development that's also located in Nakhon Ratchasima province (Khorat).

Combined expertise
With the huge success of its Italian theme, which has proved to be a particularly popular destination among tourists on the weekend, Primo Posto teamed up with Juladis Khao Yai Resort & Spa and other investors in establishing Palio Khao Yai, an Italian-style village mall.

Palio Khao Yai was designed to resemble certain European-style architectural settings, using yellow and orange as its main thematic colors. It also offers a wider range of goods and services than Primo Posto’s coffee shop, restaurant and garden, such as an art gallery, a bakery, a beauty and nail salon, souvenir shops and wine cellars.

The first little store I checked out sells a comprehensive range of decorative items, ornaments and other goods, ranging from bronze clothes hooks to aromatic oils. Another shop has some porcelain plates, tea sets and trays decorated in floral, pastel shades, which conjure up the image of a small cottage in the English countryside. Further inside, I came across several chain store outlets, such as an S&P bakery and a restaurant called Palio in Love, which is operated by Black Canyon Coffee.

If you’ve visited Italy, you’ll soon see what an excellent job Palio has carried out in producing an accurate reproduction of an Italian village, featuring a charming ambiance. Inside the building are many decorative features, such as a fountain featuring lions and a reproduction of the Bocca della Verita (‘The Mouth of Truth’) in Cosmedin. These provide a genuine sense of being in an Italian town, and offer tons of photo opportunities.

Divine dining
You’ll be pleased to hear that Palio Food Village offers a wide variety of foods at reasonable prices. If you’re a vegetarian or just a fan of ‘greens’, you should definitely pay a visit to Ton Pak Just Salad, an outlet selling fresh hydroponically-grown vegetables and a wide choice of salad dressings. The second floor of each building also features stores, which look over the mall's central space.

One particularly relaxed hangout is located around a small clock tower close to a small art gallery and interesting looking fortune teller’s called O’ Fortuna. The clock looks over Palio’s village square setting and is a popular place where visitors and locals hang out, chat and sip coffee.

Palio Khao Yai opens daily from 10 am to 10 pm. For further information, call Tel: +66 (0)44 294 731, or visit http://www.palio-khaoyai.com.
